Bedford Lacrosse Overview

Bedford Youth Lacrosse (BYLA) is a non-profit volunteer organization based out of Bedford New Hampshire. The game of Lacrosse is rooted in a tradition of teamwork and honor of the game. Bedford Youth Lacrosse aspires to adhere to these principles throughout the various levels the club offers.

The club operates two levels of both boys and girls Lacrosse. An in town Recreational Lacrosse program is offered to both boys and girls ages 7 – 10. This is an entry level instructional program geared towards the younger first time player. The season consists of one weekday practice and one Saturday game from mid April through mid June. All practices and games are held in Bedford and require no traveling.

The second program is a travel league that participates within the New Hampshire Youth Lacrosse Association (NHYLA). There are three age levels within the travel program for both boys and girls. The levels consist of U-11*, U13* and U15*. Within each age level, there exist three divisions, A, B and C. Depending on the quantity and expertise of registered players; the league may submit multiple teams per division at any level at its discretion. An evaluation procedure will determine which division a player will be placed in. Travel Lacrosse runs from early April through mid June and consists of two weekday practices and weekend games. Most teams will play a non-league game Saturday and a league game on Sunday. Games are played against other towns that participate in NHYLA, other youth programs from other states and may be home or away.

In addition to the spring outdoor season, as part of your registration fees, the league provides a weekly indoor skills session running from early January through late March. These sessions have been extremely successful in both exposing the new player to basic lacrosse skills and in tuning up the more experienced player as they approach the spring season. There is no additional cost for the sessions and they are highly suggested but not mandatory. See the calendar and the home page for dates and times.

Members are required to provide their own equipment. Girl’s equipment consists of a stick, protective goggles and a mouth guard. Boy’s equipment is a stick, helmet, shoulder pads, arm pads, gloves, mouth guard and protective cup.

Although BYLA works very closely and fully supports the NH Tomahawks and Granite State Lacrosse programs, we are not related to or are part of those entities. We would be happy to refer any questions you may have about those programs or organizations to them.
